Do you want to make the most of summer?

Let’s be honest. Summer is short around here.

If you’re anything like me, you want to take advantage of every gorgeous minute of summer before it’s gone.

Luckily we are surrounded by lakes and rivers, so it’s easy to enjoy those hot days. For me, summer days are best spent on the water, in the sun and having fun!

Paddleboard yoga is a great way to do just that!

Maybe you’ve decided you need to prioritize doing something just for you. Maybe you work from home all day and need to take a break from the computer. Maybe the thought of attending a class makes you feel uncomfortable. Or perhaps you want to try something new but need a flexible schedule, whatever the reason, giving paddleboard yoga a try might be just what you’ve been looking for.

If you want to enjoy the summer weather, be out on the water and forget about everything for a little while, sign up for private individual or group paddleboard yoga classes with me.

Let’s enjoy the summer together!

What IS Paddleboard Yoga?

Well, it's kind of just like it sounds. It's practicing yoga while on a paddleboard! I teach a style of yoga called Vinyasa, in this style we link our movements to our breath and move from pose to pose. This style is often referred to as a flow due to its flowing sequencing of poses. The pace can vary depending on what you are looking for.

Never been on a paddleboard before?

That’s ok. Really!

In fact, this is a question I hear a lot. I’ve never been on a paddleboard before, will I be able to do it? Yes, of course you will. Before even hitting the water we do an on-land instruction and go over all of the equipment. Once we are on the water we start on our knees, and you have the option to stay here for the remainder of the paddling portion if you prefer. Attending a private class takes away any sort of pressure you may feel to “keep up.”

Karley is a wonderful teacher. I have done Yoga for many years but never before out on the lake. It was so lovely to be out in the fresh air, on a still lake and I couldn't recommend it more highly. Karley also came to our place and taught a private class for my daughter, daughter-in-law and I, which was really special. Looking forward to this summer!

I've never done yoga before, is this for me?

Yes!

Even if you’ve never done it before. Look, I know yoga can seem intimidating, especially on a paddleboard, but I offer clear and simple instruction to help you on your way. I offer numerous modifications so you can take the poses where you choose. I also give detailed cues so you don’t even need to know what a “downdog” is.

Just remember, for private classes that’s one of the benefits, I set up the classes to where you are most comfortable.

I'm not flexible or fit,
can I really do SUP Yoga?

These are common worries! I know, some of those pictures that show up on Instagram can look really intimidating. But as I said above, you don’t have to be a yogi or paddleboard enthusiast to experience the benefits of SUP Yoga.

Being fit and flexible isn’t a requirement either. I do suggest that you are able to get back on the paddleboard if you happen to fall in (we can cover this in the first class) & that you know how to swim. The best thing about private classes is we can practice near shore, falling in & getting back on, our paddling skills & know what to do in case it gets windy.

I hear people say “I’m not flexible! I can’t do yoga!” all of the time & it really irks me. For one, if you aren’t flexible then you need yoga! Second, yoga does not need to look a certain way for you to “do yoga”. Last but not least, yoga on a paddleboard is much different than in a studio. We practice stability & most of all, having fun.

PS - I cannot touch my toes! Imagine if I never tried yoga.
